Last night while Madeline was taking her bath she wanted to tell me a story. She was talking in a made up accent and she started out by saying, "A long, long time ago...back in 1980...". I couldn't help but laugh out loud and then it sunk in just how long ago that really is. Wow.

Weekend by MaryElin Macht,posted Oct 28 2011 9:54AM
Finally...the weekend is here!
It's been a long week. Today is the first day that Madeline has made it to school this week. She got sick Sunday night and then has had a low temp all week. Besides that, she has seemed fine. There seems to be plenty of crud going around early this fall.
Yesterday after work I had a fun trip to Alexandria with a girlfriend. I got back around 10:30 pm, just in time to see the exciting finish to the World Series game. I haven't been paying attention to it, but it doesn't get much more exciting than last night's end (unless it involves our Twins). Bring on game 7 tonight.
I still haven't purchased any candy for trick or treaters. I should probably get that done today.
See you this Sunday from 2 to 5 pm at Willmar City Auditorium for the FREE Pumpkin Patch Carnival. It's a come and go event. I'm bringing a registration box and five families will each win a four pack of unlimited ride wristbands to Nickelodeon Universe ($120 prize). Bring your kids in their costumes. The costume parades happen at 3 and 4 pm. Happy Halloween!
Monday at noon during Your Music Cafe with Grizzly's we'll feature spooky/Halloween themed songs. Time for Thriller and Monster Mash!
I'm looking forward to this Sunday, October 30th. From 2 - 5 pm we'll be having fun at the Willmar City Auditorium for the FREE Pumpkin Patch Carnival with Willmar Community Ed & Rec, Willmar Stingers and Q102.
Bring the kids in their costumes to be part of the costume parades at 3 and 4 pm, play games and more. I'll be there with a registration box and five families will be drawn as winners of four packs of unlimited ride wristbands to Nickelodeon Universe ($120 prize). We will contact the winners via phone on Monday. See you there!
Sharon Kennedy will be filling in for me this Thursday and Friday as James and I take some time off to just hang out with the kids during their break from school. I'm looking forward to no alarm waking me up for a couple of days.
I finished watching The Biggest Loser at 2 am today. I had a different take on Bonnie this episode than I have the past two weeks. She was whiny and not cooperating with Anna. Sunny was down right impressive with her week at home in Texas with Bob. Fun to see Bob let loose and ride the bull, although I think the bull operator went easy on him.
It's been great handing out cash to winners of The Q102 Name Game! You could be one of our winners! Get all the details HERE and good luck!
I'll talk with you again on Monday. In between now and then I'll be turning a year older and wiser. See if you can hear the difference on Monday! : )
Don't mind it by MaryElin Macht,posted Oct 17 2011 10:44AM
I have a birthday staring me in the face this Friday.
You can imagine my excitement when I received notice that I needed to renew my driver's license. I've never heard anyone say that they love to get their picture taken for that. On a day off earlier this month I went in to get it done with.
Today my new license arrived in the mail and I actually don't mind it. I'm not going to be showing it off to everyone, but the picture wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. So here's a question for you. Do you put your actual weight on your driver's license or do you put the weight you want to be? I'd love to hear from you. mmacht@yourQ102.com
This is going to be a short week for me. The kids have a short week of school, so it seemed like the perfect idea to use vacation time this Thursday and Friday. It's refreshing because it's only days away and we don't have any major plans for that time off. Hopefully sleeping in, catching up on stuff around the house and spending time together as a family without being pulled in so many directions. What is your family going to do when the kids are off school later this week? mmacht@yourQ102.com
This morning we kicked off The Q102 Name Game. Your name could win you $102! Get all the details HERE and good luck!
Bonnie by MaryElin Macht,posted Oct 12 2011 9:47AM
In my opinion, Bonnie stole the show again last night on The Biggest Loser. She managed to lose another 7 lbs, overcome fears and do things she didn't think she could do before. I fear she may be going home soon though as she made the decision to send home Coach Mike. With only two left on their team, how will they be able to lose enough weight to stay in the game? Wow! Didn't Hannah look amazing last night? Marci too! I was a puddle watching when the black team got to have video chats with their family. What did you think of the show? mmacht@yourQ102.com
Way too fast by MaryElin Macht, posted Oct 10 2011 9:28AM
I had Friday off and the weekend still managed to go by way too fast! Don't you hate that?
We had a fun family weekend including my father-in-law getting inducted into the Willmar Cardinal Pride Hall of Fame. We spent Saturday and Sunday in the Cities with family.
Here's Andrew and Madeline and their cousin Lauren on Friday night. Looks like a line-up of trouble, huh?
My Friday by MaryElin Macht,posted Oct 6 2011 11:30AM
Today is my Friday. I'm taking tomorrow off to celebrate with family as my father-in-law, Hal Miller, is being inducted into the Willmar Cardinal Pride Hall of Fame. During the 34 years that Hal lived in Willmar, he led 100 different teams including boys and girls tennis. Congratulations also to Elaine Engle on her induction to the Cardinal Pride Hall of Fame.
I am still sad to hear of the passing of Apple CEO Steve Jobs. Click HERE to read what Apple had to say.
You can also hear Steve Jobs and his amazing commencement speech. His three stories will impact many lives.
Last night on The Biggest Loser, I had to ask myself if 63 year old Bonnie was talking to me. She had an emotional weigh-in. I think she lost 7 lbs. In the two earlier weeks, her older team had to send people home. Not last night. They fought back and were all safe. Bonnie said something to the effect of...no matter what age you are, it's not too late to make a change, get off the couch! I'm not 63 years old, but I was on the couch watching. Thanks Bonnie for the inspiration!
Too bad that Patrick was sent home, but he's got the drive to do it on his own and realized that others on his team needed to be at the ranch more than he did. What are your thoughts on the show so far? Do you have a favorite? Do you like the new trainers? Let me know. mmacht@yourQ102.com
Will the red team finally beat Bob's black team? Watch a preview here.
Beautiful by MaryElin Macht,posted Oct 4 2011 9:50AM
Have you been enjoying the beautiful fall colors around us?
It's easy to get wrapped up in our crazy schedule and not really pay attention to what is going on around us. This morning when I was bringing our garbage can to the end of the driveway, I was struck by the beauty of this tree. I hadn't really been noticing it even though I drive by it every day, but the way the sun was hitting it was absolutely beautiful. I even went back into the house to grab my phone and snap this picture.
How about this view I get to enjoy everyday from the Q102 studio--life is good!
Yesterday was our Fall Festival at St. Mary's in Willmar. The weather was amazing and we had a great time eating, playing games and visiting with people. We got to avoid watching the Vikes lose again and I even won cash! They had a chicken trot game where you would pay and pick a number that you thought the chicken would poop on. If it pooped on your number, you won cash! Sounds kinda gross, but was entertaining in a strange way. : ) There I was in the church parking lot cheering this chicken on as he's standing on my number--poop on number 10, c'mon chicken! Didn't happen for the first two games. I didn't give up (but did switch numbers) and I won on the final game for $50.
Speaking of money, if you could use some extra spending cash, we can help with that!
Registration for The Q102 Name Game is underway now! Get all the details HERE on how you could win $102 from Walt's In/Out Oil Change & Soft Cloth Car Wash and Q102. Good luck!
