Decision by MaryElin Macht,posted Nov 30 2011 10:02AM
Thanks for your help on selecting the Christmas card our family will use. Card #1 it is (see yesterday's blog if you're wondering which card that is).
Did you see the story on KARE 11 News about the Eagan family with very unique photo Christmas cards? Click HERE to watch it. WOW! If I was her adult child, I'm not sure I would go along with it and wear a sheep costume. What do you think? Have you ever done an over-the-top photo card? mmacht@yourQ102.com
Did any of the makeovers last night on The Biggest Loser make you cry? I cried when Becky saw her husband. Sunny was sent home leaving us with Antone, Becky, Vinny and John. This Tuesday's marathon winner will guarantee themselves a place in the Final Three - and win $25,000! I can't wait to see how everyone looks.
Crafty by MaryElin Macht,posted Nov 28 2011 9:00AM
How was your weekend? Friday night we went to Alexandria and stayed at my in-laws. Saturday morning we got to visit with James' aunt, uncle and cousins. Then we went to my aunt's house in Alexandria for our Christmas gathering of my mom's family. It works well to do it earlier in the season so that Christmas Eve/Day travel isn't so hectic for everyone and more people can make it this way. I'm not that crafty, but my aunt had us make this cute and easy reindeer at the gathering.
All you need is a brown wash cloth, bar of soap, rubberband, eyes, nose, bow and pipe cleaners. It was kinda fun to be crafty and the kids had a great time on the project too. Now we have some decorations or gifts for Sunday school teachers, etc.
I made two Chex Party Mix recipes to share and they both were a hit.
Chex Caramel Chocolate Drizzles (my favorite of the two recipes)
Chex PB and Chocolate Blast
Let me know if you make them. mmacht@yourQ102.com I'm planning on making them again and putting them in treat bags and sharing with co-workers, teachers and others before Christmas.
A week from today is your first chance to win on "What's In Santa's Sleigh" with Kandi Mall and Q102. Get all the details HERE and good luck!
Ramon rocks by MaryElin Macht,posted Nov 23 2011 10:03AM
Last night I realized that I have under appreciated Ramon as a contestant on The Biggest Loser. What a positive and inspiring guy! He was sent home last night. If you missed it, you'll love this video from last night showing him post-show. Check out the new hair!
John did himself no favors last night by giving Sunny the 1 lb disadvantage and then writing her name down at elimination. I thought it was great that Antone called him out on it. I'd be cool with Sunny or Becky winning it all. Who is your favorite? mmacht@yourQ102.com
Tonight is a special episode of The Biggest Loser with a reunion and surprises. At least two of my favorite Biggest Losers will be featured including Danny and Tara. Check out this article on Danny. It was interesting to read about how people come up to him and say that he's put on a little weight. Give the guy a break--he lost 200 plus lbs! It sounds like they'll give an update on Sam and how he's recovering from his accident.
I'm all goofed up on what day it is. Our kids are off from school the rest of the week. I work through Friday like normal, but today feels like it should be Friday already.
I hope you have an amazing Thanksgiving with family and friends! I'm thankful for you listening to Q102!
We get to see The Biggest Loser twice this week. Tonight's regular season episode and I'm looking forward to tomorrow night's Thanksgiving special with reunions and surprises. Doesn't Danny look amazing?
I'll be on-air Thanksgiving Day to chat with you or keep you company as you go to and from your plans. Then in the evening we are hosting my family for turkey, ham and more. Can't wait! This Saturday we will celebrate Christmas with my mom's side of the family. Can't wait!
Make sure you listen this Friday morning after the 7:50 news when Tim and Chris announce details of a new contest that will be very helpful for you and your Christmas shopping!
Thanks for your e-mails yesterday answering when you are ready to hear Christmas music. The majority said "after Thanksgiving" and that's what we do at Q102, increasing Christmas song play each week we get closer. Congratulations to Jessica on being drawn as the winner of one free extra value meal and one free McCafe beverage from McDonald's and Q102.
I'm happy to spread the word about Willmar native Nate Tusa's online audition for The Glee Project 2. Check out his audition video HERE. Please "like" it and share it on FB, etc. I've heard Nate sing at church and when he was in Willmar High School musicals. Go Nate!
Are you ready for snow? I'm not. At last check (8:35 am), we are in the 2 to 4 inches of accumulation prediction for Saturday.
When are you ready to hear Christmas music? There is no right or wrong answer. I just want your opinion.
E-mail me at mmacht@yourQ102.com by 3 pm today with your thoughts and you're automatically entered into a random drawing from all e-mails received to win one free extra value meal and one free small McCafe beverage from McDonald's.
Job shadow by MaryElin Macht,posted Nov 16 2011 10:00AM
Today we welcome Ashley, a senior from MACCRAY High School, who is going to job shadow for a couple of hours. It's always exicting for us to hear questions from job shadows and show them around Q102.
Did you catch The Biggest Loser last night? It was time for Bonne to go home and she looks like she's doing great on her own. Who's gonna win? I like Sunny and Becky. Your thoughts? mmacht@yourQ102.com
Today you can GIVE TO THE MAX! Find out more HERE how your donations can really count today. Thanks for being generous to our local groups who will benefit from your donations.
You know how it is when you make a plan--plans can change. That was how our weekend went, but it all worked out for the best.
Friday night was amazing! My mom and I went to see the Willmar High School production of The Phantom of the Opera. WOW! It's hard to describe how truly wonderful it was. I had chills from the wonderful singing! Congrats to everyone involved with the production. It's one I will never forget! If you missed it, make sure you get tickets next fall for their next production--whatever it is---it will be amazing!
Saturday we hunkered down because we are still dealing with the crud at our house. So far I've managed to keep it under control, but I feel very tired. Late Saturday afternoon and evening I ended up going with my Mom and Dad to the ER. Turns out my Dad had a "GIANT" kidney stone (that's how the doc described it). No wonder he was in so much pain! He was admitted to the hospital late Saturday night and will have a procedure done today to take care of it. My Dad is typically a healthy guy, so thankfully this is just a bump in the road.
Sunday, James and Andrew ended up going to Urgent Care because they just couldn't seem to turn the corner with the crud. They both are on meds now and hopefully will be back to good soon. We were supposed to go to the Cities for our niece's 2nd birthday party, but skipped due to health. We were able to Skype with them later in the day and sing Happy Birthday to Lauren. Hopefully we'll be able to get there this weekend for a belated birthday visit.
I'm wearing my Vikings jersey today. Go Vikes!
Congratulations to all our Q102 Name Game winners! We had a great time giving away $5000 and many winners got their $102 share of it. Enjoy the extra spending cash and keep listening for more opportunities to win with Q102.
We have to have some fun with 11-11-11 at 11:11:11 am, so be the 11th caller at 235-1025 at that time and you'll win a prize package that includes: one free extra value meal, one free snack wrap and one free small McCafe beverage from McDonald's and Q102.
It's been a crazy week and I'm so looking forward to seeing the Willmar High School production of The Phantom of the Opera tonight. I can see a nap in my future Saturday afternoon and then we have our niece's 2nd birthday party in the Cities on Sunday.
That's a list of the current top songs we are playing on Q102.
What's your favorite from these? Let me know atmmacht@yourQ102.com by 3 pm today and I'll put you in a random drawing to win two free extra value meals from McDonald's and Q102. Thanks for your feedback!
Do you remember Rebecca Meyer and Daniel Wright from The Biggest Loser?
Last night I saw this on her twitter feed, "Daniel proposed!!!! And I said YES!!!!!"
I found this picture of them from OK! Magazine in 2009. Congratulations to them!
Isn't it amazing how The Biggest Loser has had so many romances develop and several have turned into marriages. I don't have an exact figure, but wouldn't be surprised if their romance record is more successful than shows like The Bachelor. Who is your favorite couple from The Biggest Loser? mmacht@yourQ102.com Today is Sam Poueu's birthday. He and Steph Anderson are still together and he's recovering from the accident he had on September 3rd.
Unfortunately, my family has been dealing with the cold/cough/fever crud. Madeline started the trend in our house and she's pretty much over it, but now it's spread to the boys of the house. They are home today being miserable together. I'm trying to avoid it.
Congratulations to the BOLD volleyball team and best of luck at the State Tournament starting this Thursday! You'll be able to hear the action on our sister station 100.1 Big Country with a 2:45 pm pregame.
We are in the final days of announcing names for The Q102 Name Game. Thanks for registering and keep listening so you can call back within 102 seconds to 235-1025 if you hear your name! Good luck!
Congratulations to Mandy! She is the winner of our random drawing from all those that entered my blog contest yesterday. Mandy gets two free extra value meals from McDonald's and Q102. Thanks for entering and I'll continue to give you other chances to win on-air and on my blog. I enjoy your feedback, so if you have something you'd like to have me blog about, let me know. mmacht@yourQ102.com
Remember to "fall back" this weekend. I am so looking forward to that extra hour of sleep! Listen this weekend as we "turn back the clock" on Q102 by featuring some songs from the 70's, 80's and 90's. It's a fun way to remind you to "turn back the clock".
Free food by MaryElin Macht,posted Nov 2 2011 11:21PM
I appreciate you reading my blog and listening to Q102.
I thought it would be fun to give you a chance to win two free extra value meals from McDonald's just for checking in. Yep, that's all you need to do...let me know you're reading my blog.
E-mail me at mmacht@yourQ102.com by 3 pm today (11/3) with your name and you'll be entered in a random drawing. I'll e-mail back to the winner on Friday.
In the meantime, listen for today's Win at Work contest sometime between 10 am - 3 pm. Reynolds Wrap Pan Lining Paper was kind enough to send this deluxe lasagna kit to me. I can't wait to try it and think you'll love yours too. Here's a snap of me in the studio after my kit arrived.
Do you think that Jessica being sent home will be the end of the Biggest Loser romance between her and Ramon? What about Bonnie? First she inspired me, then I found her too whiney and now she seems to be having a break through with a new trainer. I love to hear your thoughts, so get in touch. mmacht@yourQ102.com
I'm still in shock that it's already November! How can the year go so fast?
Have a great day! Check back tomorrow for a chance to win free food from McDonald's and Q102.
Thanks for your guesses for my blog contest yesterday. Congratulations to Amy from Raymond for having the closest guess to the actual number of candy pieces I purchased to giveaway for Halloween. Amy wins two free extra value meals from McDonald's and Q102. The actual number was 276 (1 bag of 250 and 1 bag of 26). We had leftovers. This could be a serious problem!
The weather was amazing for trick or treating. Hope you had a great night!
Andrew didn't want to go trick or treating this year, but I
made him pose with his sister anyway. Madeline was
from Pirates of the Caribbean.
My nephew Emmitt looked adorable in this frog costume.
Hard to believe that Andrew wore it when he was just
1 year old too!
All smiles with Frankenstein
Stay tuned for another blog contest and chance for you to win free food this week!
