Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
Merry Christmas! I wish you a wonderful time with family and friends celebrating the reason for the season! I'm handing out more Christmas presents during Your Music Cafe with Grizzly's Grill 'N Saloon today and tomorrow.

You won't hear from me for a little while. I'm taking a "stay-cation" Dec. 26- Jan. 1st. I'm looking foward to more family time, visiting friends who we don't get to see as often, catching up on projects around the house I never seem to get done during a normal work week and I'm sure there are some afternoon naps in my "stay-cation" future too. Take care and I'll chat with you in the new year!

Bah, humbug!
I used to say "Bah, humbug" to watching the movie "White Christmas".

Although I had never seen it, I was convinced I wouldn't enjoy it. Something happened though in the past couple of years. James was able to get me to watch it and he introduced it to our kids. All of us fell in love with it. Now it's one of our favorite Christmas movies to watch as a family. We own the movie and this week it's been on AMC several times every night. We've seen it three times already this week! If you've never given "White Christmas" a chance, make this the Christmas you watch it.

What's your favorite Christmas movie? Share with me via e-mail mmacht@yourQ102.com by 3 pm today and you'll be entered in a random drawing for two free sandwiches of your choice from McDonald's and Q102. Can't wait to hear from you!

Here are some signs of Christmas courtesy of Mikey's Funnies.

Bummer
Bummer. I had a feeling it would end that way. John is The Biggest Loser. It's been interesting reading comments on FB, blogs about the show, etc. Many feel John will gain the weight back. What do you think? mmacht@yourQ102.com

They switched things up a bit last night on the finale. Did you like the changes? I actually didn't mind that we didn't see all the players weigh-in for the at home $100,000 prize. I was surprised that Jennifer won that beating Vinny and Patrick. Wow!

I liked that they spent some more time talking with the three finalists before the final weigh-in, but I felt it was too obvious that John was going to win because they talked to him so long and it was almost like a victory speech on his part. I also dislike that when they determine the weigh-in order, it's almost guaranteed that the last person to weigh-in is going to be the winner. Am I the only one who feels that way? mmacht@yourQ102.com

Thank you NBC for having a longer time at the end of the show after the confetti fell. I wasn't a huge Anna fan this season, but felt bad for her that they never really acknowledged or thanked her since she's not going to be back next season.

Next season is almost here! It starts on Tuesday, January 3, 2012. Here's a preview. No Excuses!

Finale time
I love going to the mailbox this time of year. It's so fun to receive Christmas cards, especially photo cards. I managed to get all of ours ready over the weekend and mailed yesterday. Check that off the list.

It's already finale time tonight for The Biggest Loser on NBC! I'm excited, yet kind of bummed because if the percentages we talked about last week hold true, then John will win. He's the last person I want to win. My first choice of the final three would be Ramon. He started at 355 lbs and won his finalist position by winning the Biggest Loser marathon. Second choice would be Antone who started at 447 lbs and was a former NFL lineman. Last choice--I wish he wasn't a choice at all--John who started at 445 lbs. John's attitude toward other contestants was shocking and sad. I wonder if he's proud of his behavior as he watches the show back? Who do you want to win? mmacht@yourQ102.com

We're having so much fun with "What's in Santa's Sleigh?" with Kandi Mall and Q102. Keep listening for your chance to win!

Yesterday I had a blog contest. Congratulations to Carrie from Willmar! Carrie had 6 correct answers and wins one free extra value meal and free McCafe beverage from McDonald's and Q102. Here are the questions and answers in case you want to try it out on your family or friends at a holiday gathering.

I felt super productive yesterday. After I picked up the kids from school, I made a double batch of
Chex® Caramel Chocolate Drizzles, a batch of Puppy Chow, and two batches of peppermint cookies with peppermint frosting and crushed peppermint candy on top. In between all of that I managed to get Madeline and my niece Callie to see the Kandiyohi Men's Club Holiday Express Eighteen Wheeler when it came to Raymond.

Here are some pictures from last night and my finished baking projects that will be enjoyed today at our Lakeland Broadcasting in-house company party/gift exchange.

Merry Christmas!

Most competitive
Last night was fun as we attended the MACCRAY East holiday concert. This was Andrew's first official band concert in the 5th grade. It truly is amazing how much they have learned with their instruments since the school year started. After the 5th and 6th grade bands performed, the K-6 students all presented "Paint The Town December".

When we got home, I was able to watch the rest of The Biggest Loser. I'm pretty sure I'd be begging Dr. H to pull me from the marathon by mile 5...if I even made it that far! These contestants are amazing! I'm thrilled for Ramon on his first place finish and guaranteed spot as a finalist! He deserves it. Courtney worked so hard and I'm thrilled for her too. As for the third place marathon finish for John--I'm not so thrilled for him. I wish Jessica could have just pulled ahead of him.

I had hoped Becky would be a finalist, but it didn't work out that way. We have Ramon, John and Antone. I didn't appreciate John talking smack on the scale at the weigh-in. It made me dislike him even more. I'm still annoyed with him and his treatment of Sunny. I hope that Ramon and Antone show John at the finale! Is that terrible of me? My ideal outcome would be for Ramon to win. If he can't--then Antone. Who are you pulling for? mmacht@yourQ102.com

I'm going to log my season finale complaint in advance. Why do they spend so much time recapping and filling up the two hour finale only to give 30 seconds--maybe a minute---to the finale when the winner is announced? We want to hear from The Biggest Loser that night. C'mon NBC! Don't just give us the confetti. Are you with me? mmacht@yourQ102.com NBC is calling this "the most competitive finale in Biggest Loser history".

Watch a finale preview here.

Tell Santa
We had a great weekend and survived having three extra boys overnight Friday with no working oven. Our Plan B for supper went over well with them.

Plus Friday night we got a call that the oven part had come in early so James was able to install that Saturday and we are back to good in the kitchen.

Saturday night the kids took part in our church Christmas concert. Afterwards Santa arrived and met with kids.

Madeline wanted to wait in line, but when Santa asked her what she wanted, she couldn't come up with anything. She makes me laugh. On Sunday night, when it was way past her bedtime and she was still holding out on sleep in her bedroom, Madeline yelled out to me in the living room. "Mom, you know that Santa that I was talking with? Do you know his number? He said to call him when I thought of what I wanted. Tell Santa I want the Vikings to win each time they play." I told her I'd call him or she let me know that he said she could write him a note too. I didn't have the heart to tell her that even Santa would have a hard time making that wish come true.

Sunday after church we bought our Christmas tree. The kids had a great time (so did we) walking through and looking at all the options. This is the one that we decided on. Merry Christmas!

Sparks fly

What a nice surprise it was to come home yesterday after picking up the kids from school and find a tater tot hotdish that James made for us. All I had to do was put it in the oven.

It was also a surprise when the oven was pre-heating and I heard a boom and saw sparks fly inside the oven. I turned it off and the sparks continued. Not good. The bottom heating element was burning. Now what?

I love living in a small town. I called up a neighbor from a couple of houses down and he happens to be a firefighter and EMS. He walked over and he moved the stove out for me and once it was unplugged the sparking and burning stopped. Whew. I was able to call and get a new heating element ordered that will arrive on Monday. Then I called a neighbor family across the street that was kind enough to cook our tater tot hotdish in their oven and even brought it over for us when it was done. I love small towns and I love my neighbors! Thanks guys!

The oven situation has created a Plan B for us tonight because Andrew is having 3 friends overnight and I was planning on making pizzas in the oven. Plan B it is.

I'm excited for lunch today (not just because I'm having leftover tater tot hotdish)! It's the holiday edition of Your Music Cafe with Grizzly's Grill N Saloon. Let me know your Christmas request mmacht@yourQ102.com We'll play as many as we can and I'll give away some Christmas presents from our prize closet too.

Have a great weekend!
