Two losers?

This morning I saw a post from someone on Facebook that "The Bachelor" on ABC is a "loser". I stopped watching that show years ago (after Bob Guiney's turn as The Bachelor) so I don't know what happened last night to make her post that, but it made me chuckle that we have two "loser" shows on-air with "The Bachelor" and "The Biggest Loser".

Tonight the aqua team gets a chance to come back to the ranch. Will Adrian and Daphne make it? Here's a preview.

I drop our kids off at school each morning and last week one day someone was giving me a hard time because we were running across the street to get there and how he wouldn't want me to get hurt, but thought it would be kinda funny to see me slip. We laughed about it. I wonder where he was today as I was walking out of school after delivering prizes for students who turned in Box Tops. I was strolling along and hit a slick spot on the sidewalk and did a graceful move. I managed not to fall, but too bad someone wasn't recording it for a $10,000 funniest video. I can feel it in my low back.

Don't miss out on the final days of registration for our online contest!

Enjoy this last day of January!

When I was a kid
For your Monday from Mikey's Funnies.

An irritated father complained to his golf buddy, "When I was a kid, my parents sent me to my room without supper if I misbehaved.  But my son has his own  TV, telephone, computer, and every computer game and CD player in his room!"

"So how do you handle it?" his friend asked.

"I send him to MY room!"

Squirrel?

Imagine walking into a room and seeing this on the floor. What animal does it look like at first glance? This recently happened at our house.

I have a sweater that has this fake fur on it, but can be snapped off the sweater when you wash it. I took the fake fur off and hung it in the laundry room. It ended up falling on the floor and so the next morning when James was going through the laundry room to get to the spare bathroom, he encountered it on the floor and at first glance was a bit shocked thinking we had a squirrel in the room!

I can see how he thought it could be a squirrel. Makes me laugh! I wish I could have seen his face and him jump.

I should point out in fairness to James that he has a history with squirrels. When he was younger one got in through his family's fireplace and into their Christmas tree. Imagine their surprise! No wonder why he's a bit jumpy.

So here's how the fake fur looks on the sweater.

Have you been getting extra spam lately? Seems they've ramped up their spam attacks on my home e-mail and the spam folder is full daily. I keep getting ones that say things like "your correct tax information is essential". When you read on it says that your social security number doesn't match documents, etc. No way I'm falling for that. Wouldn't it be nice to live in a world with no spam?

Have a great weekend!

What time is it?
What time is it? That's a question I've been asking a lot lately. Our painting projects are complete and we have stuff back on the walls in the dining room, but where we used to have a clock, we put a picture. I keep looking to that spot for the time with no luck. Our neighbor was over the other night and she was wondering about the clock too.

We haven't put anything back on the walls in the living room yet so I'm missing that clock too. Funny how we get so used to a simple thing like that and it can really throw you off.

I'm trying to embrace not being so concerned with the time, but if it continues to drive me nuts, we may have to get a clock back again. Have you experienced something like this when you make a change? I'd love to hear from you. mmacht@yourQ102.com

Remember to enter our online contest daily! Good luck!

Jewel's cubs

I can't believe I missed it! I had been checking the den cam for Jewel for days and days to watch her cubs be born. Sunday morning when I got up, I was checking some other stuff on the computer. Andrew woke up and asked me if I had checked on Jewel yet. We went to the website and discovered that we missed her having cubs by 30 minutes! If you missed it too, they have provided this video.

I watched The Help this weekend and it was as powerful as I had heard.

Welcome to a new week! Let's make it a good one!

One thing leads to another
Isn't it funny how one thing leads to another, especially when it comes to doing projects? This week our project was getting the living room and dining room painted. Then I added the kitchen to the painting list. Painting is complete. Since we have most of the furniture moved out of the rooms, now I've added cleaning the dining and living room carpets. I'd love to hear about your projects that ended up in another project. Get in touch mmacht@yourQ102.com

I'm also finally going to watch The Help this weekend. I've heard so many positive comments about it and I'm prepared to cry.

Enjoy Winter Fest activities in Spicer this weekend including the fireworks Saturday night at 7. Listen to Q102 for the daily Medallion Hunt clue around 7:40 am. You could win $500!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Jewel's Den Cam
Wow! It is nasty cold! Last night while Andrew was at church for class, Madeline and I ran some errands. It was miserable just running from the car to the stores. Thankfully it was only short periods of time we had to be out in the cold. I do feel sorry for the Tooth Fairy who had to come out in the extreme cold and make a visit to our house last night. Thanks Tooth Fairy!

We were home in time to watch the kick off to American Idol. The Ryan Seacrest look alike didn't make it on to Hollywood and that's OK. It was crazy how much he sounded like Ryan when he talked. I enjoyed the show. I can't imagine living in a tent like contestant Amy Brumfield does. I'm pretty low maintenance, but I'd hate that. Did you have a favorite contestant from last night? Let me know. mmacht@yourQ102.com

We've been having fun checking in on Jewel's Den Cam. She's expected to deliver her cubs soon. Check HERE if you'd like to watch. As I'm typing this Jewel is moving around and her nose is right up by the camera. Pretty cool.

Stay warm today!

Drama and kindness
Last night's Biggest Loser was full of drama and some kindness. The "shocking" decision was that Joe decided to leave the show and go home to his family. Bob talked about how this had never happened before. Remember Rulon leaving? Since they are saying Joe is the first to do this, it still makes me believe that Rulon was disqualified and forced to leave the show.

Drama was in full effect thanks to Conda and Cassandra. Looks like Conda and Dolvett are gonna clash next week!

At least there was some kindness when several contestants gave up their video chats with family to other people who they felt needed it more.

What did you think of the show? Chime in by sending me an e-mail to mmacht@yourQ102.com

Are you ready for the extreme cold warning overnight? This morning was cold enough and I felt bad for kids standing at bus stops waiting. Really bundle them up for Thursday morning!

Down-sized
We have down-sized.

We are painting our living room and dining room and so we needed to move/empty our 45 gallon fish tank that sits in the corner. Just to clarify, when I say "we", I mean that James had to move it--I wasn't much help at all. In fact, I was screaming during the process because we had to figure out how to move the giant plecostomus we have in the tank to a smaller tank.

Here he is moved into the smaller tank. He creeps me out, especially knowing how tiny he used to be. We call him Gigantor! We'll see if we fill the 45 gallon tank up again or stick with the smaller tank.

It's a Biggest Loser night! It's week 3 and there will be video chats from home, a tempting Chinese food buffet, face offs in the gym and a "shocking" decision. Can't wait!

Remember to sign up for our online contest by midnight this Saturday night. You could win our ticket package for Minnesota Sea Life Aquarium and Moose Mountain Adventure Golf! Good luck!

The Change-Up

Ryan Reynolds. He sealed the deal as a favorite actor of mine once I saw The Proposal. I'd seen him before that, but never really paid attention. Now I try to see any Ryan Reynolds movie I can. Last night I stayed up late to watch The Change-Up. The whole idea of the movie is silly, so of course I enjoyed it. Two old friends end up switching bodies and trying to live as the other person. At the start of the movie I was creeped out by the character that Ryan played so it was fun to see The Change-Up happen. I think Jason Bateman is a great actor too. It was a bonus they are both in the movie.

We also rented Horrible Bosses and need to watch that this weekend. I don't know much about it, except that a couple of people have horrible bosses and Jason Bateman stars in this one too. Have you seen it? Your thoughts? mmacht@yourQ102.com

Any other movies you'd recommend renting? I'd love your ideas! mmacht@yourQ102.com

Have a great weekend!

People's Choice
Did you watch any of the People's Choice Awards last night on CBS? I got to see bits and pieces of it in between the bedtime routine for the kids. Somehow I missed seeing every award that Katy Perry was up for so I don't know how they handled it the five times she won since she wasn't there to accept. Did she have a recorded video accepting it or have someone accept for her? Please fill me in on that. mmacht@yourQ102.com

Bridesmaids won for Favorite Comedy Movie and then sang "Hold On" during their acceptance speech. There is one scene from that movie that I can't get out of my head and still makes me laugh and be grossed out at the same time...in the fancy dress shop after their meal...Melissa McCarthy's character. Need I say more?

I loved when Betty White received a standing ovation after her show, Hot in Cleveland, won for Favorite Cable TV Comedy. I've never watched that show, but I enjoy Betty White. Loved her in The Proposal with Ryan Reynolds and Sandra Bullock. She's so funny and sharp and going to be 90 years old next week!

Why can't we do anything gradually when it comes to Minnesota weather? One day it's 50 and people are golfing. The next day we have light snow, cold temps and strong winds. We'll survive another cold and windy day today. Friday will still be cold, but we warm up to 28 Saturday and possibly 35 on Sunday.

Remember to register once per day until midnight this Saturday night for our online contest. You could win a four pack of tickets to Minnesota Sea Life Aquarium and four tickets to Moose Mountain Adventure Golf. Click HERE to get to the registration page. Good luck!

Enjoy your day and thanks for listening to Q102!

Wild

Over Christmas we spent time in Alexandria at my in-laws house. I snapped this picture of the wild turkeys that are regular visitors around their house. They seem so huge in person! I didn't realize that wild turkeys are becoming more common throughout southern, western and even central Minnesota.

It's hard to believe that we could hit 56 degrees this afternoon! Enjoy!

Remember Shay?

A new season of The Biggest Loser started last night on NBC, but do you remember Shay from Season 8? We've wondered about her since that finale when Subway offered her special incentive to lose even more weight. Shay dropped off the radar after that and we wondered if she ever earned money from Subway. Yesterday I found an update from her. It's called "The seven biggest mistakes I made after Loser". You can read the entire article HERE. She's very open and honest in her article.

So what did you think of the kick off to Season 13? Congrats to Dolvett on winning the first weigh-in. He was so excited to get one over Bob. Can his team do it again next week? I can't believe how Kim (red team) used to look as a professional wrestler! Couldn't you feel her pain as they showed the clip of her getting her back broken during a match? Ouch! Do you have any favorite contestants so far? I really liked Ben and was sad to see him basically volunteer himself to be the first to go home. When we learned more about him it was easy to understand why he wanted to get home to his pregnant wife and all his kids. I'd love to hear from you about The Biggest Loser or anything else you want to talk about. You can reach me at mmacht@yourQ102.com

I'm back
I'm back after 9 days off in a row. I didn't travel to any exotic locations. I mostly stayed home and it was amazing! If you've never taken a day or two to just "be" at home, I highly recommend it.

We enjoyed laying low, watching movies and visiting with friends. I continued a yearly tradition of seeing Tonic Sol-Fa in St. Cloud around New Year's with friends. Our family rang in the New Year at a hotel in the Cities and then spent the first day of 2012 taking Andrew and Madeline to their first Minnesota Vikings game. Madeline lost her top front tooth at the game! We knew it was a matter of time before it came out, so I had a baggie with so we could get it home safely for the tooth fairy.

My biggest accomplishment during my time off was getting through a project that had been haunting me for years. I found, sorted and then put thousands of our pictures from January 2009 until December 2011 away into photo albums. It took hours (over a couple of days) and I filled 8 photo albums. What a relief to be caught up! I vow to never get that far behind again. I lowered my expectations when doing this project. I would love to have written down the exact date, name of people in the photos and the what/where for each photo, but because I was so far behind, I settled for just putting the month and year on each photo. Otherwise I'd probably still be working on that project today!

I hope the New Year is off to an amazing start for you! It's good to be back!
