Meet the semi-finalists
I didn't get to see American Idol last night. After Ash Wednesday Mass, Madeline and I had haircut appointments. I got home after 9 pm and then took care of a bunch of other stuff and then bed was calling my name.

If you didn't get a chance to meet the first semi-finalists, click HERE to see videos from each of them. Tonight we find out who joins them when American Idol returns on Fox.

Obsessed
I found it funny last night on The Biggest Loser when Conda called the atmosphere on the ranch “toxic”. If you look back to my February 8th blog, it’s titled “toxic”. She still doesn’t get that she’s one of the main reasons this has been a toxic season. I’ve heard from you that you also feel it’s harder to enjoy this season because of all the drama. Daphne is gone now, but with Conda still on the ranch the drama will continue. When I think of inspiring and enjoyable seasons of The Biggest Loser, I think of when Tara and Danny. Loved them!

My son Andrew tells me I’m obsessed with Box Tops For Education. I’m alright with that. I figure if I’m going to be obsessed with something, it might as well be something that can help our school. The other day someone mentioned how they had just heard about Box Tops For Education. I was happy to hop up on my soap box and fill them in about Box Tops and how easy it is to turn trash into cash.

Each Box Top is worth 10 cents. That might not sound like much, but it really adds up fast. I volunteer for the MACCRAY East Parents Club to count the Box Tops turned in at school. This school year MACCRAY East students have already turned in over 13,000 Box Tops! That means over $1,300 that the MACCRAY East Parents Club will use to pay for some extras that aren’t in the school budget. Through the years with our Box Tops money we’ve been able to purchase new playground equipment, extra supplies for teachers, special presentations for students, busing for field trips, etc. It’s a great feeling turning trash into cash!

You don’t have to be as obsessed (ha) with Box Tops like I am, but I bet if you start collecting, you will enjoy it and it will become a good habit. Maybe you don’t have a kid in your family that goes to a K- 8 school that collects Box Tops—no problem. I bet you have a neighbor kid that could turn them in, a family member in a different town or maybe a kid who goes to your church could use them. I know MACCRAY East would love your Box Tops! Just don’t waste them—turn trash into cash! Look at THIS amazing list of products that participate.

You can also earn eBox Tops by shopping through the Box Tops Marketplace. Right now some stores are offering double eBox Tops through the end of February.

I could go on and on—just ask my family and friends! I’m alright with my obsession and hope you’ll join me in supporting this great program for local schools. Today our Win At Work prize is courtesy of Box Tops For Education. I’d love to hear your Box Tops story so please e-mail me at mmacht@yourQ102.com

There are other wonderful programs that area schools participate in so don’t forget about collecting for those including:  Cash Wise Labels For Learning, Campbell’s Labels For Education, Kemps Nickels for School and Land O Lakes Save Five For School.

Winter

We've been so spoiled this winter that it was a bit of a shock driving home yesterday afternoon in the slushy snow and this morning on the glazed roads. Be careful as you travel.

Over the weekend we made a trip to the Cities to stay with James' sister and her family. They recently moved from an apartment to a town home so staying with them just became easier. At their apartment I felt like all I did was tell our kids to be quiet and to quit jumping around. Our kids aren't used to having people below, above and all around them. We had a fun weekend with them. Our niece Lauren had a crazy hat that Madeline saw and fell in love with. Turns out that Lauren didn't like the hat and wouldn't wear it because she was scared of it. The hat fits Madeline's fun personality perfectly so they gave it to her. It was her hat of choice to school today. I'm not even sure what character it is, but she's sporting it in the picture below. Her toothless grin cracks me up.

It was personal

Last night I actually got to watch The Biggest Loser. It was another episode full of drama with Conda and Daphne. They both had very intense workouts at home with their trainers. I can't imagine walking 103 flights of stairs like Daphne had to do. I kept thinking of how her legs must have been burning beyond belief, but she got it done and in under an hour! Impressive. Did you have a favorite part from the show last night? We learned a little more about Conda. Was it enough to make you cheer for her? I always love to hear your thoughts mmacht@yourQ102.com

Get ready for more drama next week! At the end of this preview Daphne says, "It was personal". Who do you think gains weight to change up the teams?

Tomorrow the Dine Out 4 United Way event starts. Click HERE for a complete calendar. Plan ahead today with your co-workers and place an order today for tomorrow's cupcake deal from Deidra's. Thanks for supporting United Way of West Central Minnesota with Q102!

Remembering Whitney
Saturday night the sad news was announced that Whitney Houston had died. It certainly changed the tone of the Grammy Awards that aired last night on CBS. I thought that LL Cool J did an amazing job of mentioning Whitney's death. He was respectful and also recognized that the show must go on. Jennifer Hudson peformed a special tribute to Whitney and you could see how emotional it was for her.

Here is one of my favorite Whitney Houston performances of all time. It still gives me chills!

The Grammy performance last night that gave me chills was from Adele. I've always loved "Rolling In The Deep", but if it's possible, I love it even more after last night. Wow!

Toxic
Is it just me or has this season of The Biggest Loser been toxic? Last night was especially toxic with Adrian and Conda. Adrian is gone. Can Conda please be next? On Valentine's Day, one player from each team goes home with their trainer, leaving everyone else to fend for themselves. I'm having a harder time getting attached to the contestants this season. How about you? mmacht@yourQ102.com

Congratulations to Bridget Peterson from Montevideo. She's our Hinder ticket/meet & greet winner!

Don't miss out on entering our Valentine's contest for help from the Qpid Squad. You must enter by midnight this Sunday night. Find out more HERE.

From Mikey's Funnies:

When General Douglas MacArthur retired from the military in 1951, he stated famously, "Old soldiers never die, they just fade away." But five-star generals are not the only ones who never die:

Golfers never die, they just lose their drive.

Lumberjacks never die, they just pine away.

Accountants don't die, they just lose their balance.

Bank managers don't die, they just lose interest.

Vehicle mechanics? They re-tire every day.

Engineers never retire, they just lose their bearings.

Beekeepers never retire, they just buzz off.

Musicians never retire, they just decompose.

Watchmakers never retire, they just wind down.

Academics never retire, they just lose their faculties.

Old librarians never die, they just check out, become overdue, and lose their circulation.

Old milkmaids never die, they just kick the bucket and lose their whey.

Old math professors never die, they just go off on a tangent.

Old mimes never die, they're just never heard from again.

Caucus finder
Wondering where you need to go tonight for Minnesota precinct caucuses at 7? Click HERE for a caucus finder.

Fresh off her Super Bowl half-time performance, Madonna has announced her 2012 World Tour and it includes a Minnesota stop! Get ticket information HERE. Madonna was one of my favorite artists growing up and was a music staple at our slumber parties back in the day. I enjoyed her half-time show and I'm very tempted to try to buy tickets for this concert. How about you? mmacht@yourQ102.com

Tonight on The Biggest Loser, a wild dunk tank challenge leaves one team without a trainer for an entire week!

Are you watching The Voice? I've caught both episodes and like it--except for all the bickering between Christina and the other judges. After the Super Bowl on the first episode I thought she was trying to hard to clash with them and it came off as annoying--not entertaining. Your thoughts? mmacht@yourQ102.com

6 pm tonight is the deadline to register for Hinder tickets and meet & greet. Good luck!

It was super
The Super Bowl is history and here's what I'll remember most from it.
Thumbs up to Kelly!

I enjoyed Madonna's half-time show. Thumbs up!

My favorite commercial even had an appearance from Betty White in it.

"Super" weekend
Are you ready for a "super" weekend? This week has been crazy and I'm looking forward to regrouping on the weekend.

Today after school I'm volunteering at the MACCRAY East book fair. Tomorrow afternoon until Sunday morning we'll have company. I can't wait to see our niece Lauren and have them stay for a quick visit. Sunday afternoon we get to celebrate at a birthday party for our two other nieces. I can't believe how they are growing up so fast! Sunday night we'll lay low at home and watch the Big Game. I have no favorite team picked to win. I'm mostly watching for the commercials and entertainment. Enjoy!

Take some time now or over the weekend to get registered for our online contests!

Register HERE for the Qpid Squad to help you for Valentine's Day.

Register HERE by midnight Saturday night for our Minnesota Sea Life Aquarium tickets.
