A world with more birthdays

On Friday night, we walked laps to get us closer to a world with more birthdays. Thanks for supporting the American Cancer Society through Relay For Life. We had a great time at our team campsite. Our team was able to raise over $6,000 and as of Saturday morning the total for Kandiyohi County was $110,000. They hope to get that number to $125,000 by August 31st so there is still time to donate. Call Kim at 235-3131 if you have questions. I'm happy that I was able to enroll in the Cancer Prevention Study 3 to be part of this research effort.

Here are some pics from Relay For Life.

Relay For Life
This is such an exciting week. Our Relay For Life Team has our auction going on until noon today (Tuesday, July 17). You can call 235-1340 to bid on four Twins tickets and a hotel stay. The winning bid money goes to the American Cancer Society. Find out more HERE.

We still have luminaries available at our studios for a suggested donation of $10 to the American Cancer Society. You can also make a donation to our fundraising efforts HERE.

You could be part of ground breaking cancer research. This year the Kandiyohi County Relay For Life will host enrollment for Cancer Prevention Study 3. Find out more HERE. Enrollment is open from 5:30 pm - 9:30 pm this Friday during Relay at the Willmar Middle School Track.

Stop by our team campsite at Relay to play games and bid on silent auction items. We can't wait to see you there!

I'm in the Cities tomorrow and Thursday for a conference. Talk with you again on Friday!

Take me out to the ball game
It was a hot day yesterday at Target Field and the Twins lost again, but we still had a great family day. Our neighbors had been to another game when it was really hot and they gave us great advice about using water bottle fans and bringing a cooler with water bottles. We bought five of the fans on the way to the game and it helped keep us cool plus the kids had fun spraying themselves and us. It was nice having bottled water with us so we didn't have to spend a fortune on keeping hydrated. Since it was a Sunday afternoon game, the kids got to run the bases after the game. It's fun for us adults too because we get to go down to the field with them.

This is another crazy schedule week. James and I will be in the Cities Wednesday and Thursday for a radio conference and back Friday for Relay For Life.

Here are some pics from our afternoon at Target Field

Tragedy

It has been terrible to hear the details of the deaths of three young girls in River Falls, Wisconsin. My heart aches, tears fall and I feel sick to even think about it. I'm especially praying for the baby sitter as it must be difficult to deal with knowing they were the last person to see the girls before the tragedy. May they rest in peace.

We are a week away now from the Kandiyohi County Relay For Life in Willmar. Remember our Twins ticket and hotel auction coming this Tuesday from 8 am until noon. You'll be able to bid by calling 235-1340. Listen for more details. We also have luminaries available here for a suggested donation of $10 to the American Cancer Society.

We have another busy weekend planned including going with my parents, my brother's family and our family to Target Field on Sunday. It will be the first time that all eleven of us have been to a game there together. Target Field is one of my favorite places to be so I can't wait! Sounds like it's gonna be a hot one! Go Twins!

Enjoy your weekend!

Summer fun
We had another family weekend of summer fun including some time Saturday at the Dorothy Olson Aquatic Center in Willmar. I managed to get burnt even with sunscreen. Sunday we got up early and hit the road at 6:30 am to drive to the Minnesota Zoo. We wanted to see the dolphins one more time before they leave. Then we hit MOA for a bit and back home by 6 last night.

I'm taking this Tuesday and Thursday off so I can go to see Madeline and Andrew's summer rec games. Have a great week!

Family pics

Hope you had a great 4th of July! Ours was nice. After work, we hung out in the neighborhood and then went to Prinsburg for their evening parade. They have the best parade with neighborhood floats! Congrats to everyone involved in making them--very impressive!

This year we gave my parents the gift of a family photo session for their anniversary. We had an appointment scheduled in May, but it turned out to be a crummy cold, windy and rainy day so we rescheduled for June 24th. The weather was much better that day. I had the day off this Tuesday and our pictures arrived-perfect timing. I thought I'd share some of them with you here.

My flower

How was your weekend, besides HOT?

It was great fun seeing Madeline as part of the Rapunzel cast for two performances at the Barn Theater. This was her first time trying something like this. She had one line on her own as a "flower in the garden" and the rest of her lines were with the other garden members. Perfect! Congrats to everyone involved with the project.

My "flower"--she's the one with yellow around her neck

This is going to be a goofed up week with the holiday right in the middle. Good luck keeping track of what day it is.

I'll be off tomorrow so I can get to Andrew and Madeline's summer rec baseball games. I'm back on the 4th and for the rest of the week.

Stay cool!
