Toddler Dies In Hot Tub Accident In Grand Rapids

State Health Department Reports First Flu Death Of Year

its assets. Blaine-based Infinite Spirits, which distributes Shakers Vodka,

1-30-12     The Stearns County Sheriff's Department identifies the man who died after driving his ATV into open water on Rice Lake as 65-year-old Michael Hickman of rural Paynesville.   At 4 p.m. Friday officers recieved a report Hickman, who lives near Rice Lake was missing, and was last seen riding an ATV on Thursday night.   The area was searched, and the ATV and Hickman were found in an area of open water on the west side of Rice Lake.  The DNR assisted the sheriff's office at the scene.   (KWLM)

Animal Humane Society Seizes 109 Dogs From Bemidji Area

Historic Flour Mill Goes Up In Flames

This Day In 1862


12-26-11  --  This day marks are infamous anniversary in Minnesota.  In 1862, 38 Dakota men who had been convicted of crimes during the U-S-Dakota War, were hanged by the federal government in Mankato.  It was the largest one-day mass execution in American history.  The next year, the rest of the Dakota were expelled from Minnesota.
