January 17, 2011
A group of Tiger Cubs and parents we given a tour of Lakeland Broadcasting Company by Ben Taylor. Ben spent time explaining programming, music and production and how each department does their job to get the finished product on the air.
 
January 19, 2011
A tour was given to a group of students from the Bethel Lutheran Church. Ben Taylor’s tour consisted of showing group how commercials and promotional audio is created, time spent in on air studios to show group how on air programming and news works. Group had lots of interesting questions.
 
March 10 – June 24, 2011
Lakeland Broadcasting aired public service announcements for the Minnesota Broadcasters Association’s James Wychor Scholarship. The scholarship was for students interested in a career in radio or television broadcasting. Scholarship information and application was posted on Lakeland Broadcasting websites.
 
June-July, 2011
Lakeland Broadcasting Company participated in the internship program with the Sales and Marketing program at Ridgewater College in Willmar and Hutchinson.  Justin Rademacher assisted with the promotions department and sales while earning college credits.
 
September 13-27, 2011
MaryElin Macht conducted training with Lisa Liebl for a part-time on-air position. Besides the training for on-air duties, Lisa was trained on weather, on-air formatics, commercials, transmitters, tower lights, EAS tests and more. Lisa is now working as a part-time announcer with Lakeland Broadcasting.
 
September 20-27, 2011
MaryElin Macht conducted training with Brad Andreen for a part-time on-air position. Besides the training for on-air duties, Brad was trained on weather, on-air formatics, commercials, transmitters, tower lights, EAS tests and more. Brad is now working as a part-time announcer with Lakeland Broadcasting.
 
October 26, 2011
Todd Bergeth spoke to the Willmar Noon Lions Club.   His presentation, “A Day in the Life” talked about radio in the past and present. 
 
November 16, 2011
A MACCRAY High School student did a “job shadow” for a half day. Her day started with MaryElin Macht learning how music is scheduled, jobs that happen behind the scenes, what a typical day entails and stereotypes and misconceptions of radio. She spent time with Rolf Figenskau in the sales department. Bob Thompson showed her how commercials and promotional audio are created. J.P. Cola spent time showing here how news casts are prepared.
 
November 18, 2011
The Leadership Perspective group from Willmar toured the Lakeland Broadcasting Company facilities. 40 people spent time learning how the production and commercials and promotional audio are created; time in our on-air studios to find out about how on air programming works and with news director, J P Cola, learning how news is gathered and determined what is aired.  Mike Miller, Paul Cool, Art Cruze from sales; MaryElin Macht and Ben Taylor from the on-air staff conducted the tour.
